NSW Building Construction Legislation enforces build to design and record-keeping: Topcon LN-150 the construction set out tool for the job!

Building Commissioner David Chandler has announced two new Acts in New South Wales that aim to combat poor build quality in some multi-story housing developments. At the same time Mr Chandler has been granted significantly increased rights and powers when it comes to shutting down work sites, through stop-work-orders for poor builds and as of July 1st 2021, for poor reporting and record keeping. The new Acts mean that all designs must be submitted and approved ‘for construction’ and uploaded into the portal six months before work on site begins. The builder will then need to build to this design and any changes to be re-submitted. The Topcon LN-150 construction set out tool from Aptella makes this process
Machine Mounted Receivers Increase Grading and Excavating Potential

The Topcon LS-B200/LS-B200W machine-mounted laser receiver from Aptella offers accelerated accuracy for grading and excavating, improves safety on site and increases profitability. The LS-B200 / LS-B200W machine mounted laser receiver is an affordable grade indicate system designed to improve grading and excavating production and accuracy. Other features include: Ruggedized for a variety of 2D applications LEDs for heads up visual operation Grade indicators to verify design grade High / Low marks for instant notification to grade Flexible 360°orientation for faster field work Optional audio indicators Increase accuracy Attach the LS-B200 and LS-B200W to your dozer, scraper, excavator, backhoe or drag-boxes, turn it on, bench in and go to work. No more waiting for a grade checker or jumping
Cutting edge technology, combined with cutting edge machinery keeps early adopters ACI Excavations ahead of the pack

ACI Excavations has a reputation for being early adopters of cutting-edge technology, and so it was no surprise that when the company purchased its latest piece of machinery, a 220x series excavator from JCB CEA, they paired it with Topcon’s new X-53x auto excavator system from Aptella. “We go back a long way with Topcon technology, lasers and integrated systems with rotating lasers,” said Peter Stadelbauer, Owner, ACI Excavations. “You have to be one step ahead of the opposition, if you’re not, you run last.” Why did ACI Excavations choose technology from Aptella? ACI Excavations has a long-standing relationship with Aptella and Topcon technology that goes back more than 30 years When the Topcon X-53x auto excavator was
Students at Cecil Andrews to benefit from Design Engineer Construct supported by Aptella

Students at Cecil Andrews College in Western Australia to benefit from world-leading Design Engineer Construct! Learning Programme, with support from Aptella. Cecil Andrews is the first school in Australia to introduce the dedicated built environment course, developed by UK-based COYO. Aptella will work closely with teachers at the college to deliver meaningful learning opportunities with the latest in geospatial technology. Class Of Your Own (“COYO”) is an organisation focussed on showcasing career pathways for young people in the built environment. Its dedicated and award-winning Design Engineer Construct! (DEC) programme assists teachers to introduce an array of skill sets needed in construction and infrastructure projects, including engineering, surveying, architecture and design. “Standard high school curriculums do not include learning
Mine site monitoring made easy and accessible

The Problem in mine site monitoring Mine site monitoring has typically been divided into two phases of activity: collection and analysis. With production pressures on site and staff increasingly becoming more time poor, data is collected often at the expense of the analysis. Or more frustratingly, the data has been diligently curated by surveyors and technicians into a variety of packages and then slowly accrues digital dust as geotechnical and mining engineers do not have the time to review it. In my time as a mine geologist, I can confess to collating multiple spreadsheets storing a myriad of surveying and geotechnical data. During this time I recall cajoling surveyors into measuring control points and bribing geotechnicians to download
New Sokkia total stations designed as part of full, productive workflow solution

Sokkia announces the availability of new robotic total stations designed to improve job site productivity. The iX-1200 and iX-600 total stations are professional-level positioning tools for survey and layout in the building construction and infrastructure trades. Engineered for integration with field controllers, software and GNSS receivers, the total stations are designed as part of a full workflow solution. Ray Kerwin, director of global product planning, said, “The high-performance technologies incorporated into the design provide increased prism-tracking strength. Through a combination of optical sensing and ultrasonic motors, UltraTrac technology helps users stay locked onto the prism — and productive with less down time resulting from the need to reacquire prism lock — even in dynamic job site conditions. “The
Tiny Surveyor improves efficiency and safety for the Shire of Esperance’s surveyors

The Shire of Esperance is constantly on the look out for new technology and solutions that can make life easier for the surveyors working on the creation of new roads and maintenance of existing roads within the Shire of Esperance. The Shire of Esperance is constantly on the look out for new technology and solutions that can make life easier for the surveyors working on the creation of new roads and maintenance of existing roads within the Shire of Esperance. This led Paul Farmilo, Technical Officer – Fleet to the Tiny Surveyor line marking machine from Aptella, which he saw as the ideal instrument to increase the efficiency and reduce the mundane tasks for the surveyors working on
Tiny Surveyor improves safety and removes tedious tasks from the surveyors workloads

Dayne Corps, Director, Karratha Earthmoving saw a video on YouTube of the Tiny Surveyor GPS Line Marker robot from Aptella in action and thought it would be the ideal instrument to implement into his technology arsenal. Mr Corps initially purchased the Tiny Surveyor intending to use it for line marking but knew his team of surveyors would embrace it and build on their use of the instrument to continually make their workflow more efficient. “We’re a company that is looking forward to keep ahead with technology, so when I got the Tiny Surveyor GPS Line Marker I knew that we could use it but I also knew that we’d grow with our use of it because we’re that
