Survey Technician

Aptella’s PaveSmart team delivers specialist surveying and paving services for high-precision infrastructure projects—from airports and highways to motorways and complex pavement works across Australasia and the USA.

Our experienced survey consultancy teams provide end-to-end control of asphalt surfacing projects, reducing risk and enabling consistent, high-quality outcomes.

In this hands-on role, you will work as part of a skilled and supportive team, utilising our proprietary PaveSmart Technology and advanced level control systems alongside survey data to support the asphalt laying process. You will play a critical role in ensuring projects meet strict specifications around depth, contractual tolerances, and surface smoothness, directly contributing to successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Liaise daily with site supervisors and engineering teams
• Communicate effectively with plant operators and site personnel to maintain accurate level control
• Operate asphalt paving machine control systems using PaveSmart technology
• Install and maintain control networks

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Proven experience in surveying
• Experience within asphalt or paving environments
• Current Driver Licence
• Construction Induction (White Card)
• RII and/or VOCs (desirable)
• Strong work ethic with a positive, team-focused attitude
• High reliability and punctuality
• Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and travel as required
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and police check
