Aptella has two fully certified and validated NATA accredited road roughness profilers. While the bulk of Aptella’s road roughness testing is for layer compliance testing, the laser profiler can be used to determine many issues on a road surface.
Aptella uses a zero speed system inertial profiler, providing the following benefits.
- The zero speed system does not require run-in or run-out data
- Upgraded GPS
- No traffic control required including major intersections or high traffic areas
- Additional accuracy with using four gocator lasers and high accuracy INS sensors
- Speed operating zones include 0 - 100km/hr allowing for complete stops if necessary
- Testing to TMRQ708 and TfNSWT188 standards

As the IRI model is primarily interested in wavelengths from 1.2 to 30m.
This is particularly useful to show where the wavelengths are causing the greatest roughness
The wavelengths showing the greatest values drill down into
the wavelengths that are actually causing the roughness of the road.
Improve safety by collecting with the flow of traffic and varying speeds. With GPS tagging options, the operator doesn’t need to touch the computer, they can focus on driving.
SSI’s Zero-Speed Inertial Profilers have repeatedly proven to certify under the same standards as traditional inertial profilers; AASHTO r56 for repeatability and accuracy.
The Zero-Speed upgrade does not require run up or run out. Long duration stoppages also do not effect data. Both scenarios have been proven to collect accurate data compared to reference devices and traditional inertial profilers
